VOLUNTEER!

Volunteers needed
April 18th – May 11th, 2025
for the Spring Production of
Bamboozled
Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm
Sunday Matinees at 2:00pm
Hi Volunteers,
It’s that time of year again when we bring all our sets and props from our storage containers to the theatre and start the massive job of unloading and sorting and setting up. Additionally, we bring down all our boxes stored in the loft and miscellaneous equipment and lights stored under the stage. Needless to say, we need your help. If you can spare a couple of hours on Sunday, March 30th, we would be greatly appreciative. We will be starting around 9:00 am but will be there most of the day.
Hope to see some of you there!
Hey Volunteers,
This season the Benicia Theatre Group is producing BAMBOOZLED by local celebrated playwright, Patricia Milton. The play concerns a young black appraiser from L.A stranded in Tennessee and charged with defrauding a Daughter of the Confederacy out of family Civil War heirlooms. Inspired by the true story of an Antiques Road Show appraiser who cheated a family out of a million dollars’ worth of Confederate memorabilia, this four-woman play looks at what we value, and what it costs us.
Our opening night will be Friday, April 18th and runs four weekends Friday, Saturday and Sunday with our final performance on Mothers’ Day which is Sunday, May 11th. Your help and support are most needed and will be greatly appreciated.
We couldn’t put on our shows without the time and talents of our volunteers. Have you volunteered before and would like to do it again? We’d love to have you. Are you new to volunteering with us or with the theatre in general? You are receiving this email because you are on our list of someone interested in joining in the fun!
We need volunteers for backstage & props, bartending (over 21 – ABC training required), flyers & postcards, set building (carpentry experience), and of course, front desk and ticketing.
Please let us know by return email what area would be of interest to you. Hopefully we can match your availability with our needs for the positions. If you are no longer interested in remaining on our volunteer list, please let us know and we will update our records. If you are unavailable this time, we will gladly circle back when we’re looking for help with our Fall production.
Thank you for supporting our community theatre!
VOLUNTEERING IS FUN!
We couldn’t put on our popular shows without the time and talents of our volunteers. Have you volunteered before and would like to do it again? We’d love to have you. Are you new to volunteering with us or with a theatre in general? No experience is necessary for every volunteer position, just a willingness to learn!
Join us as we get ready to launch our next production of The Odd Couple. Help us put on a great show. Everyone is welcome.
SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER!
Whether helping to prepare for a show, or working it, there are lots of opportunities.
BACKSTAGE & PROPS
Working backstage is exciting! Volunteers help actors with their props, set pieces, costumes, and even staying on task with their scenes. This behind-the-scenes volunteer position is a lot of fun. Volunteers work in low light with flashlights, and require climbing up and down stairs.
BARTENDING (Over 21 – ABC training required)
Enjoying snacks, soda, water, wine, or a cocktail is often part of the fun for patrons seeing our shows. You can help provide a friendly addition to the entertainment by serving in our little bar, help stocking supplies, and washing glasses. It’s fun and you meet lots of people!
COSTUMES
Helping actors with their costumes is a fun experience. We have loads of costumes to choose from to provide the perfect outfit for the actors’ characters. Whether gathering clothes and accessory options from our collection, hanging and organizing them, or helping keep them tidy, it’s true that the clothes do make the man…and the woman.
FLYERS/POSTCARDS
Advertising in town and throughout Solano County is as easy as putting up flyers in shop windows and helping label postcards for mailing. This work is an important part of inviting the community to our show and generating local interest and involvement.
FRONT DESK TICKETS
Greeting guests and taking tickets is a great way to get involved and see a show at the same time! Volunteers at the front desk help set up before the show, provide programs, offer assistive listening devices, and direct patrons to the bar and facilities.
SET BUILDING (carpentry experience)
If you’re handy with a hammer, saw, and nail gun, this might be the volunteer opportunity for you. Skilled and semi-skilled carpenters and apprentices needed to build our set. Under the direction of our lead builder, volunteers will have the unique opportunity to help create the magic that only a hand-built set design can offer.
SET PAINTING & DECORATING
Putting the final touches on a set to create the magic of storytelling is the set painting and decorating. Volunteers work with our skilled set painter to bring the vision alive. Who doesn’t like decorating a room? Volunteers utilize our collection of props and set pieces to complete the look and create the allusion that only live theatre can provide.
SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING
Are you good at posting on social media? Do you like helping to find ways to share information? Working with our social media & marketing volunteer, you can help generate a buzz about our shows and our organization both online and locally. Whether posting a blurb on the community page of the local paper, to taking a video of the set build for Instagram, volunteers help get the word out to support Benicia Theatre Group and come see a show!
VOLUNTEER SCHEDULER
Volunteers are crucial to a successful production! You can help to keep the volunteer schedule current and updated while we prepare for our show and during performances. Under the direction of the volunteer coordinator, and using the online scheduler Signup Genius, the scheduler maintains contacts with volunteers to help ensure that positions are filled.
